4 Tournaments, 4 Gold Medals // 4 tournois, 4 médailles d’or

The Minor Midget Crush team participated in the Kanata Blazers Capital Winter Classic from January 6-8. As they did in their previous three tournaments, the Crush skated off the ice Sunday evening with gold around their neck as tournament champions. 
The road to the finals was not an easy one. In a 16 team tournament and finishing with a 2-1-1 record in round robin play, the team squeaked into the playoff round with the 3^rd and final wildcard spot. The early Sunday morning quarter final game was a 3-2 win against their league nemesis and 3^rd seeded team, the Nepean Raiders. Off to the semi-finals against the tournament’s #2 seed, MTK Romans. A 4-2 win advances the team to the finals.
After two physical games, the boys showed that they still had some energy to spare for a third and final game against the #1 seed, and only team to not have lost during the tournament, the Brantford 99’ers. With a 1-1 tie going into the third period, and undiscipline play by their opponents, the Crush added 2 power play goals and captured gold with a 3-1 victory.
The Minor Midget Crush team have been perfect in tournament play this season going 4 for 4 after winning the Osgoode Rideau Fall Classic, the Capital Mid-Season Showdown, the Jacques “Coco” Lemay tournament and the Capital Winter Classic. In four tournaments, they have a record of 19 wins, 1 loss and 2 ties.

Le midget mineur Crush a participé du 6 au 8 janvier dans le tournoi Kanata Blazers Capital Winter Classic. Comme ils l’ont fait dans les trois tournois précédent, ils ont été couronnés champions.
La route vers la finale n’a pas été facile. Dans un tournoi regroupant 16 équipes et terminant la ronde préliminaire avec deux victoires, une défaite et un match nul, le Crush ce sont mérité par justesse la 6^e et dernière position pour la ronde finale. Une victoire de 3-2 en quart de finale contre leurs plus grands rivaux de la saison régulière, les Raiders de Nepean et une victoire de 4-2 en semi- finale face aux Romans de MTK, l’équipe accède à la grande finale.
Avec du jeu physique dans les deux première partie, le Crush retrouve assez d’énergie pour  affronter la seule équipe à ne pas avoir subit la défaite dans le tournoi, les 99ers de Brantford. Avec le pointage 1-1 en début de troisième et suivi d’un manque de discipline des adversaires, le Crush ajoute deux buts en avantage numérique pour remporter la médaille d’or par la marque de 3-1.
Le midget mineur a terminé leur participation en tournoi avec 4 championnats en autant de participation. Soit le Osgoode Rideau Fall Classic, le Capital Mid-Season Showdown, le tournoi Jacques “Coco” Lemay et ce dernier, le Capital Winter Classic. En quatre tournois, l’équipe ont une fiche de 19 victoires, 1 défaite et 2 matchs nul.
